High School for Design and Innovation

This project adaptively reuses two parallel factory buildings as a specialized public high school for design and technology, critically engaging the site’s existing structural and material systems.

Original trusses are rotated 180° to generate an unruled, gradated roof plane, punctured by a star-shaped void that organizes light-filled circulation and interstitial spaces. New frontal and rear additions frame a central courtyard, functioning as an axial spine that mediates spatial hierarchy, light, and ventilation.

Responding to climate and resource constraints, the project establishes a tectonic continuity between inherited fabric and contemporary transformation.
